What Is DND Mode On Fitbit?
If you’ve seen the acronym “DND” show up on your Fitbit and are unsure what it means, you’ve come to the right place. Unfortunately, Fitbit and other smartwatches don’t have an option to play a virtual game of Dungeons and Dragons, so that’s certainly not what it means. In this article, we’ll answer all your questions regarding what DND mode is and how to turn it on and off.
DND mode is an acronym for Do Not Disturb mode. When it is on, the Fitbit won’t receive any sort of notification, goal celebration, or reminder on the screen, and the screen will remain black. DND mode has a symbol that looks like a “do not enter” sign over a message icon.

What is the Do Not Disturb Mode For?
Do Not Disturb (DND) mode, which has a symbol looks kind of like a “do not enter” sign (a circle with a horizontal line through it) over a message icon, can be selected in the Fitbit quick settings.
When enabled, DND mode will prevent you from receiving any sort of notification, reminder, heart zone alert, or goal celebration on your Fitbit screen. They’ll still come through on your Fitbit, but you won’t be able to see them as they appear, and your Fitbit tracker won’t vibrate.
Once you’ve disabled DND mode, you can review all the notifications, reminders, and celebrations you missed. Having DND mode enabled will also keep your screen black, so your screen won’t turn on or vibrate as notifications come through.
You can tell if DND mode is enabled if the “do not enter” symbol on the screen’s quick settings is illuminated. While you have DND mode enabled, you won’t be able to use sleep mode at the same time, and if you have sleep mode already on, you won’t be able to turn on do not disturb mode.
Sleep mode (marked with a moon symbol) is very similar to DND mode, as it mutes all notifications, reminders, and celebrations, but instead of the screen staying black, the brightness will be dimmed.
This will turn on automatically during your regular sleep hours that are set on your sleep schedule in the settings. You’ll need to wake your Fitbit tracker by tapping the screen twice.

Solutions to Keep DND Mode from Turning on Automatically
With some Fitbit models, especially with the Inspire 2, the DND mode will sometimes turn on automatically. This usually happens when the user raises their wrist to check the time, and users have to go into the settings to shut it off. This can get annoying, but there are a few things you can do to keep this from happening.
The first solution is to double-check that DND mode is not activated. For Inspire 2, press both buttons on each side of the screen at the same time to bring up quick settings. If DND mode is on, the symbol will be illuminated. Tap the icon to turn it off, then press the left button to go back to the clock face to save your setting change.
If the first solution doesn’t work, plug in your Fitbit and press both sides until you see a smiley face.
If the issue is still prevalent, re-sync your Fitbit to your phone or other device. You can do this by unpairing your Fitbit from your phone using the Fitbit app.
This option is found on your Fitbit app profile under Devices. Once you’ve removed the device you have paired, resync your Fitbit to your phone once more. This should prevent the device from turning on DND mode automatically.
